Acupuncture, a holistic approach
to full body health, is often used to treat a host of problems
and diseases including:
- Limb and muscle complains (rheumatism, arthritis, lumbago)
- Head pain (headache, migraine, facial pain)
- Digestive disturbances (stomach ulcers, heartburn, indigestion,
irritable bowel syndrome)
- Fibromyalgia
- Respiratory and circulatory problems (asthma, angina,
palpitations)
- Dermatitis
- Urinary and hormonal complaints (recurrent cystitis,
painful periods, menopause)
Dr. Gopal , one of only
200 physicians in the United States to be board certified in
Medical Acupuncture, believes in personalized treatments based
on precepts of Eastern medicine. He treats the whole patient,
rather than focusing primarily on symptoms.
His approach is to build up the patient’s constitution,
so that he can treat what is often a complex web of medical and
pain issues. He starts by learning about the patient’s
current and past health history and personality — including
color preferences, food likes and dislikes, hobbies and all the
various components that make up that individual. Following Chinese
medicine precepts, he uses a technique called “tongue and
pulse diagnosis” to glean extensive information about a
patient’s health.
Under Dr. Gopal’s care, a patient might begin acupuncture
treatments, along with a regimen of Chinese herbal medicines
prepared particularly for that individual. These medications,
available by prescription only, are formulated in the United
States under strict purity guidelines and compounded from a combination
of 15 to 30 herbs. Special training is required to prescribe
them; most doctors cannot.
After just three to four treatments, many patients report a
feeling of renewed energy and return to activities that they
had not been able to enjoy for some time. |
